A mystery based on the Agatha Christie short story. A wealthy American couple hires renowned Belgian detective Hercule Poirot to find the person who stole a valuable pearl necklace from their hotel suite while they are on vacation at Brighton’s Grand Metropolitan Hotel. The couple’s theatrical French maid and the stern hotel chambermaid are the only ones who appear to have been in their apartment, making the case appear quite straightforward. When authorities question both suspects, they both point the finger to the other. Poirot uses his pocket watch to undertake an experiment in an attempt to identify the astute diamond thief, just as the police inspector believes he has solved the case.
