Mattia Sedda

Mattia Sedda is a clown, actor, and theatre director from Sardinia, Italy.

His introduction to performance came unexpectedly — he had moved to Florence at eighteen to read Political Science when he first encountered theatre, working alongside practitioners including Thomas Richards, Duccio Bellugi Vannuccini, Charlotte Munksø, and Franco Farina. He continued his training in London at the National Youth Theatre, the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Fontainebleau Acting School, and East 15 Acting School. Screen credits include the British sitcom Hapless (Amazon Prime, Season 2), with a feature film forthcoming.

In recent years, Mattia has centred his practice on clowning and physical comedy, training with Philippe Gaulier, Spymonkey, Viggo Venn, and Eric Davis, among others. In 2023, he performed stand-up across London and joined the improv group Night of Drama at the Edinburgh Fringe.

In 2024, he created his debut solo clown show, CHOIN, directed by Aitor Basauri, co-founder of Spymonkey. The production has since played the Vaults Festival, Brighton Fringe, Barcelona Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe 2024 and 2025, and the Museum of Comedy — selling out the latter, as well as Grandi Autori in Cagliari. It tours further dates in Milan and London. Chortle named CHOIN one of the ten clowns to see at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe.
