GHOSTS by Henrik Ibsen

Teatre Gaudi

November 23rd & November 24th, December 1st & 2nd, 8th & 9th

Today is a good day for Helene Alving. Her son, a painter, has come home after two decades abroad. She is about to open an orphanage in her late husband’s name — a monument, and an ending. She believes herself finally free of the past.

She is wrong.

Ghosts is Henrik Ibsen at his most exact: a household built on silence, and what that silence is asked to hold — anxiety, hierarchy, injustice — all conducted under the name of duty. The past does not stay buried. It comes back speaking in the present tense.
