In Other Words
“Blue Book Theatre Company was born from the belief that theatre can bridge the local and international communities in Barcelona. With artists from over 25 countries, the company stages professional productions in English. Since its beginnings in the aftermath of the pandemic, the Blue Book Theatre Company has built a presence across Barcelona’s stages.
Actor Bruin Chan says he was drawn to the company precisely because of its unique role in the scene. “They’re one of the few companies doing theatre in English in Barcelona,” he explains. “I kept hearing about them in casting rooms, so I was really curious to get involved.”
Their repertoire moves between dark comedy and intimate drama. In 2026, that work was recognised with the title ‘Theatre Company of the Year’ at the Spanish Business Awards.
The idea behind the company emerged in the cultural vacuum left after Covid-19, when stages were quiet, but the city full of actors. The company brought them together through live performance and became both a creative and social project.”
Interview with Director David Martin
LUNGS written by Duncan MacMillan, directed by David Martín, is a sharp and insightful drama that explores the complexities of modern life through the lens of a couple at a crossroads. In a rapidly changing world, they’re faced with the big question: Should they bring a child into this uncertain future? With wit and raw emotion, LUNGS takes us on a journey through the unpredictable stages of their relationship—navigating love, loss, hope, betrayal, and the profound challenges of change. It’s a powerful meditation on the difficult choices we make, the pains we cause to those we love, and the ways we struggle to find meaning in a world that seems to be unraveling.

Circle Mirror Transformation is a play about a group of five normal people who join Marty’s community centre acting class to dive deep into what it takes to act and break through the insecurities they may have. We sat down with @Sophie Heideker, who plays Marty Kreisberg, and asked her about her time as an actress, advice she would give to new actresses, and what people misunderstand about acting. Circle Mirror Transformation will be held at Teatre del Raval from June 13th to July 18th.

Their third play this season “Adventures of Nicole” is about falling in love with ourselves again after being widowed, combined with themes of the Catholic Church, “Adventures of Nicole” written and directed by Greta Griniūtė, leads you on a path of discovery but also has many surprises throughout, especially at the end.”

The Importance of Photos
Photography & Visual Storytelling
At Blue Book, we believe that a production doesn’t end when the curtain falls — it lives on in the images that tell its story. Every production is documented through professional photography that captures our actors fully in character, bringing the world of each play to life beyond the stage. These images form the backbone of our marketing and publicity, giving audiences a genuine and compelling window into the story before they even take their seat. We don’t just promote our shows — we invite you in.
